Hi All;

I am new for open erp, and I am looking to download the open erp to start learning it. There are three choices to download (for linux version), I understood that Server is to be installed at the server machine and the client to be the GTK. But I did not understand what is the Web Client and for what it will be used?

If I am going to browse the open erp using the Internet explorer, so why to use the Web Client?

Regards
Bilal

The web client provides an alternative to the GTK client, and there is limited functionality (such as Gant views) only available in the web client.
My preference at the moment is the GTK client but apparently under 6.1 the web client is actually faster.

The web client is a client to the server, but is actually a server to your client (in this case internet explorer). Call the web client, web server and you will no longer be confused.

Thanks alot for all who helped.

So, the client will use the Internet explorer, but I have to install the web client at the server to be the web server for the open erp, correct?

Hi no need to worry you just have try only with repository 11.1 and install the server. Download the client openERP from Open ERP - Open Source Management Solution and follow the installation procedure about SUSE for install this client. that's it!
