I sell domain names and webspace. Which needs recurring payment.
Which may repeat monthly or yearly.

How do i create such service or products?

Thanks in advance.

i was searching a module for renewal/contracts...
i found this one :

http://apps.openerp.com/addon/5505?filter={%22order_by%22%3A+%22click_counter+desc%22%2C+%22text_search%22%3A+%22renewal%22}&page=0

From the contributer :
This module lets you manage contracts:
• automatic sale order lines, based on product's recurrences (scheduler)
• automatic sale order
• link to project, so that tasks are autoamtically generated
• invoices management
• corresponding stock moves
• incoming and outgoing products
• automatic contract renewal
• products recurrences (by product form and by contract line)
• warranties (by contract line)

however, after download & import, i get error when installing the scheduled upgrade :
( test-running on a windows vista 32 - pc )

module depencies tell me that I have to install also report_webkit, but when I try to do that, I get an error too. Is it necessary to have a warranty contract to use app's from apps.openerp.com ???

here the details of the error message :

I've tried various add-on modules but always seem to hit some technical issue. I did get the standard Openerp module working - is not hugely featured but if all you want is the same invoice amount each time it looks to be adequate for that (you can define the frequency by invoice)

Hi
Thanks for your answer. However, you are talking about 'the standard module' , which module is that ? In my installation, I don't see any field where I can enter a frequency. Neither in a sales order, neither in an invoice.

It's the subscription module - will be under the tools menu - just instal the module. I could not get this working in a Windows environment but works under Ubuntu - something to do with the scheduler.

Here are my notes on set up (bit ugly as from a Word document):

Recurring Invoices

Used for such things as regular maintenance charges. While the instructions below relate to invoices to customers, the same process & logic could be used for buyer created invoices for in-coming charges.

1 Tools  Configuration  Document Types
Create a new document type for each type of object (i.e. need only 1 record for any sales invoices – object type = account.invoice)
Leave document fields blank
2 Create an initial invoice for the customer to be billed – this should be processed through to completion (i.e. a sales journal created)
3a Tools  Recurring Events  Subscriptions  New
Complete fields as follows:
Name Free format – suggest using customer name & charge type
Partner Leave blank
User Anyone with access to the company ID being used
Active Ticked = Yes

3b Under subscription data:
Interval Quantity These two fields together determine the dates invoices will be created.
e.g. Qty=1, Interval=Monthly means 1 invoice per month
e.g. Qty=2, Interval = Weekly means 1 invoice per fortnight
Interval Unit
No of Documents Number of invoices to be generated. -1 means forever
First Date Date/time for first invoice
Source Doc Doc type as per 1 above combined with the Invoice journal per 2 above

4 Click on process to start scheduled job (these are visible as explained in 5 below.
5 To see the scheduled jobs, go to
Administration  Configuration Scheduler  Scheduled Actions.
Each subscription record will appear as a line on the grid with the count of instances to go displayed

In the subscription screen there is a tab “History” which will show invoices generated.

Hello
Thank you very much for your help.
I have been testing this procedure. Technically, It works fine ( even on my windows machine :D ).
However, it's a little bit of a hard job :
- I have +/- 800 contracts to bill : means I have to schedule each invoice
- the frequency can be per 3 months, per 6 months, per year : I didn't see these options
- in many cases, the invoice details can change over time ( new machines installed, indexation, old machine dropped, .. ) : this means that I have to delete the scheduled task, make a new first invoice, re-enter the subscription, ...
- On the invoice, something like a reference to the covered period should appear : I tried to do this with the document fields in the document type, but it does not work because you can only enter a default value, a current date, but not some 'tags' that will be replaced with the periode of coverage

I wil have to investigate a bit more ..

Frank

As I said it is a fairly simple function - you can set up for 3/6 months by changing the frequency value, high volume you could do by importing records, but frankly from the sounds of it you need another option - there are a number to look at but I haven't looked at them closely as no requirement.

regards

Well.

I'm wondering is there an efective way to implement a Renewable/Recurring Service contract of products in openerp 6.1?

I've been searching and in all posts shown a very wet drama.

Is there a real flaw in OpenERP 6.1 for this kind of service and contracts management? or only its a problem of missing information?

Hi all:

I have created a module that let you define this type of recurring services. It is avalaible in:

https://code.launchpad.net/serviciosbae ... erp-addons

and there is an explanation of the module, but only in spanish, here:

http://www.serviciosbaeza.com/index.php ... ara-cuotas

Try it and let me know if you have any doubt.

In fact, language is not an issue :).
Thanks for the code, I'm going to test right now and I'll post my impressions.

PS: sorry for the delay. I was under a thick work flow.

---spanish here text below---

De hecho no habrá ningún problema :)
Mil gracias y perdón por el delay...estaba sepultado de curro.
Me pongo a ello y te comento si hay algo que no pillo o las impresiones de tu módulo.

Edit: Launchpad offline now (schedulled downtime), I'll try it later!

The sale_recurring_order module by Pedro has helped solved a big challenge for me and users over here.

He specially put aside time to modify and make it to work for OpenERP 6.1 during the past week. I've just tested it out and it appears to work very well on 6.1.

Many thanks Pedro, for this extremely useful module, and your good and hard work on this!

The launchpad link to download the new sale_recurring_order module for 6.1 from Pedro is available at https://code.launchpad.net/~pedro.baeza ... addons/6.1

Hi,

So, please excuse me if my question sounds akward - I'm new to openerp AND english is not my native language.

So, just like the topic suggests, I am also working in a hosting company (web servers, domain, etc). My question is: what would be the best approach (module?) to store information about users accounts expiration date in OpenERP (or if it is even possible?).

I'm mainly asking about relations - so one customer could have many accounts, each with its own expiration date... So is there any plugin that would help me manage all of that? Like, I don't know - relate payments to account renewals, relate customers to their accounts (services?), etc?

I believe you may be looking for more functionality, but the Sales_Recurring_Order module may be able to help in getting a view of expiring contracts.

Using this module, you can create an agreement for each client contract you have, where you will specify the customer, the start date and for how long the agreement will be.

You will then find that when the all the agreements are listed, it shows the expiry date of each contract in the list. You can sort the list by expiry date to see which are contracts that are expiry soon. You can also use the search fields to filter which agreements that you want to see.

To relate payments to the agreement, it has buttons that helps create sales orders for that agreement. The periods are configurable (eg. monthly). These sales orders are used for the the invoicing and payments.
